Classes

Learn how to be a better babysitter and earn a Certificate in Babysitting. Our classes include instruction on general safety, basic CPR and first aid. 

• Class fee is $35.00.
• This class is offered to those who are ages 11-14 years old.
• Classes are held in both our Peru and Spring Valley locations, depending on room availability. 
• Lunch is provided.
• Registration is limited to the first 16 students.

Peru:

Joint Replacement Prep Class is held every Wednesday in the Women’s Health Conference Room in Peru.

Location Directions: The Women’s Health Conference Room is located next to St. Margaret’s Women’s Health Center on the 1st Floor of Peru Medical Building A, which is across the street (West Street) from the St. Margaret’s Health – Peru hospital.

Hip patients meet at 1:30 PM.

Knee patients meet at 3 PM.

St. Margaret’s Childbirth Classes 2023:

St. Margaret’s Health is pleased to offer prepared childbirth courses during four classes. Three of these classes are now held in an online format only, while the fourth class remains in person. This class is offered for free. Learn more about these classes and this year’s class schedule below:

Class 1 & 2 (Now offered in online format only): 

The focus is on labor & delivery. Topics include what to expect, breathing exercises, position changes & coping skills. 

Class 3 (Now offered in online format only):

This class focuses on newborn care. 

Class 4 (Offered in-person – see dates below): 

The focus of this class is on breastfeeding information, infant CPR and an optional tour of the OB Unit. Dads/labor support persons are encouraged to participate also. 

Class information and links to access the online classes 1-3 will be emailed to participants following their registration online. We will assign you a breastfeeding class based on your due date. Please let us know if you are not planning to attend the in-person breastfeeding class.

St. Margaret’s Real Results is a program to help you get to your desired weight safely and effectively by focusing on all aspects of weight management.

Taught by our Registered Dietitians:
Miranda Reinhardt, Haleigh Augspols and Tara Ketner.

• 8-week educational program focuses on many aspects of healthy eating, exercise, and forming healthy habits

• Weekly sessions are held on Tuesdays; April 18th – June 6th, from 4pm – 5:15pm

• Classes are held at the St. Margaret’s Center for Physical Rehabilitation and Aquatics (CPRA Building), next to the Illinois Valley YMCA

• $150 one-time fee includes body composition analysis at first and last classes.
