Working independently or in collaboration with the Medical Records department, provides, and assures prompt scanning and organization of all patient related “data” into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for use by all internal users within the building. Maintains medical record integrity through scanning of patients’ medical records into electronic format utilizing established process. Directing incoming faxes; assign document to either patient record or employee. Redirecting incoming labs, transcription, test results from outside sources to patient record. Good keyboarding skills with ability to accurately transfer information from eye to keyboard without transposing information. Ability to perform job functions and make task-related decisions with limited direct supervision. Must comply with HIPAA. Able to locate patient name and select correct episode for type of record to be prepped. Able to correctly save work performed on electronic files. Computer operating skills to include login and logoff, opening, closing, saving and copying files and printing documents. Must maintain work product accuracy standards of 95% or better. Maintains medical record integrity through filing, assembling and retrieving confidential patient records for all purposes. This position requires the employee to have access and protect patient health information whether in electronic, written or verbal form.
High school graduate or equivalent required. Knowledge of general operating systems including; word processing, spreadsheet and email applications. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and organize work is required. Adaptive independence to tasks and sudden changes in priorities based on the organization, providers, or patient needs is required. Must project a positive demeanor and tone in all interactions with patients, families, and fellow team members. Knowledge of base and skill in use of fax, keyboarding, microfiche reader, telephone and computer, basic computer skills, and ability to operate photocopy machine required. Must be able to pass test covering filing, typing, alphabetizing and spelling skills with at least an 80% accuracy rate. Medical terminology and abbreviation test given to determine extent of medical word knowledge. Medical records, medical terminology and scanning experience preferred but not required.
