Scope of Responsibility:

A surgical Scrub Tech or Scrub RN will have knowledge of all surgical procedures and be able to properly set up a room with proper instrumentation using sterile technique. The Surgical Scrub Tech will be able to anticipate the surgeons need for instruments and hand appropriate instruments to the surgeon during a procedure.  Must be knowledgeable in sterilization of instruments and maintaining sterilization throughout a surgical procedure.

Education Requirements:

Non-Certified Scrub Tech qualifications: High school graduate or GED equivalent required.  CNA with 2 years of hospital experience or currently enrolled in program for certification as a Surgical Technician with completion of program within 9 months.. If CNA, a microbiology, anatomy, & physiology class is required within 1 year of hire. Current CPR certification required.

Cert. Surgical Scrub Tech qualifications: Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Techs. Certification for Surgical Techs required. Current CPR certification required.

Scrub RN qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Current State of Illinois registered nurse license, current CPR certification required.
