COVID-19: You can help!

As the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, makes its way across Illinois, at St. Margaret’s, we are aggressively planning to care for patients who present with symptoms. You have likely heard in the media that shortages of supplies are expected. There’s a way YOU can help! Please look in your business and homes and consider donating the following items: Unopened boxes of disposable gloves– nitrile gloves, latex gloves and  nylon gloves are all appropriate. Gloves are needed in many aspects of the hospital from medical care to janitorial services. Masks– Many of us use N95 masks for dust protection in industrial situations or for home hobby use. Safety glasses with side shields– We are only looking for new items in sealed packaging. Cartridge for half-mask filters– Specifically, we need 3M High efficiency P3 HEPA Filters (part number 450-00-01). Isopropyl alcohol How can you donate these items? What is St. Margaret’s Doing in Response to COVID-19?

 Here’s the latest updates: Current statistics from Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have identified 105 positive cases of COVID-19 in 15 counties in the state of Illinois.  Because of that, St. Margaret’s is adopting a no visitor policy to best protect all patients, staff, and visitors and slow down the spread of this disease.St. Margaret’s is maintaining normal business hours and will continue to care for patients. St. Margaret’s Hospital and Clinics will be reviewing upcoming appointments and may be contacting some patients to discuss alternative options other than a face-to-face visit. We understand this will present hardships and challenges for both patients and families, but we feel this decision is critically important to protect the patients who have entrusted us with their care, their families, our staff, and the communities we serve. Based on this, we have instituted the following, effective through March 30, 2020, unless otherwise stated:

St. Margaret’s CANCELLATIONS

The health and safety of patients, family members and staff is our number one priority and we are closely monitoring the developing situation surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus) and taking a proactive approach to prevent the spread of viral illness. As such, we are cancelling some upcoming events in order to follow the guidelines provided by the CDC. We will continually update this news announcement with any further cancellations, should they arise.
