Introducing Elizabeth Birkey, PMHNP

St. Margaret’s is pleased to welcome Elizabeth Birkey, PMHNP, to the staff at St. Margaret’s Center for Family Health in Princeton. Liz is a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She is also a Certified Nurse Midwife and Lactation Consultant, as well as, a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

Born in Davenport, Iowa, and raised in the Illinois Valley, Liz attended Illinois Valley Community College and Northern Illinois University in Dekalb for Nursing. She then went on to Frontier Nursing University (Hyden, KY) and obtained her Master’s in Midwifery, Post-Master’s

Family Nurse Practitioner and Post-Master’s PMHNP degrees. She is currently working towards a Doctorate in Nursing, anticipating finishing in March of 2021.

Liz will be working with Benjamin Shepherd, MD, Board Certified in Family Medicine and Psychiatry, and Jennifer Gutshall, PA-C, to provide the Illinois Valley quality, compassionate care in both primary and mental health services.
