Food services at St. Margaret's Hospital

St. Margaret’s tries to go out of our way to make our patients’ and their families’ time here a success, along with our food services. We offer room service for our patients and have a cafeteria  for visitors. Vending machines are available 24 hours a day.

Patient Meals

In the Spirit of Healing and Hospitality, St. Margaret’s is happy and proud to introduce Room Service style meals to our patients.

A Call Operator is available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week. Your meal will be made to order and delivered by a Dietary Host/Hostess within 45 minutes of the time it is ordered.

Your physician has ordered a prescribed diet to best meet your health needs. Not all foods on the Room Service Menu will be appropriate for your diet and we will do our best to work with you to make the best food choices when you call. Please review the entire menu included in your patient packet and follow the guidelines suggested for Carbohydrate, Sodium, and Fat restricted diets.

When you are ready to make your selections, dial 3663 (FOOD) on your room phone. Our Call Operator will assist you. Your family, nurse, or nurse’s aide can also help you with the Room Service Meal System by placing the call and ordering for you. Family members can also assist by calling in from home (815) 664-1373. This can be done per meal, or one call can set up several meals at a time.

The cafeteria is located on the ground floor and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Weekend and holiday hours vary slightly and are posted on the outside entrance to the cafeteria.  Visitors are welcome at any time.

The cafeteria offers a variety of selections throughout the day with full meal service offered at the following times:

  • Breakfast | 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Lunch | 10:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Supper | 4:40 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.


St. Margaret’s Hospital offers two vending areas that are available 24 hours a day.  There is one vending area located on the ground floor immediately next to the cafeteria that contains snack and beverage machines.

On the fourth floor in the surgical waiting area, there is a snack, sandwich, and beverage machine.  A microwave oven, condiments, and tableware are provided for the convenience of our guests in this vending area.
