Dr. Perona is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in adult joint reconstructive surgery. Dr. Perona’s main focus in his practice is in applying new and cutting-edge technology to make hip and knee replacement surgery easier, safer, less painful, and with speedier recovery. His use of cutting-edge technology, such as Minimally Invasive Surgery, Partial Knee Resurfacing, Shoulder Reconstruction and Computer Assisted Surgery has helped him to become a premier choice for joint care in the area.
Dr. Perona is also the leader in robotic-assisted surgery in the Illinois Valley. We are proud to have the first robotic-arm assisted total knee, partial knee, and total hip replacements with Stryker’s Mako System. This highly advanced robotic technology transforms the way joint replacement surgery is performed.

During the fall of 2017, St. Margaret’s Family Orthopedic Center, along with Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Paul Perona, MD, moved from the 4th floor of St. Margaret’s Hospital to the 2nd floor.
The new office provides more overall space, including a larger waiting room. It also features the latest advanced technology, including digital x-ray equipment that offer better pictures, lower radiation, and can even be viewed remotely.
