As a parent, you want the best for your child. When it comes to the health of your child, that means you want the best quality care possible. At St. Margaret’s Health, we have several pediatricians and family physicians who are available to treat children of all ages.
Whether your child has a minor illness or needs a physical or routine checkup, we are here to help. Should a health problem with your child be serious or require an even higher level of care, our physicians will help arrange for more specialized pediatric health care at a children’s hospital.
A pediatrician is a physician who sees and treats young patients, including newborns, children, adolescents and young adults. A pediatrician provides primary care, including well-baby and well-child checkups, diagnosing and treating minor illnesses and injuries, and more.
A family physician is a medical provider that cares for patients of any age, including individuals or families. Like a pediatrician, a family physician is trained to provide health care services to newborns, children, adolescents and young adults, but they also have additional training in care for adults, including women’s health.
In 1992, Dr. Swink earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from University of Central Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. He attended medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, OK and completed his residency program at Great Plains Family Practice in Oklahoma City.
While attending medical school, Dr. Swink joined the Army National Guard and served from 1995 to 2003. During that time, he rose to the rank of Captain-Commander of Medical Specialty Unit.
In 2001, Dr. Swink arrived in Illinois and began working for OSF Medical Group in Dwight. He and his family love the small-town feeling and sense of community that came with the move north. In his 16 years of experience as a Family Practice Specialist, Dr. Swink could see the full scope of family medicine and really get to know his patients.
